Why do I need spiral wound tubing?
Spiral wound tubing is used in various thermal and electrical applications to solve a wide range of insulation problems. When durability and reliability are required, spiral wound tubing is the solution.

What are some characteristics of polyimide spiral wound tubes?
Some characteristics of polyimide spiral wound tubing includes: high dielectric strength, thermal endurance, thin walls, light weight, precise inside diameters and a continuous use temperature of 200°.

What are the minimum and maximum diameters for linear seam tubing?
The minimum inside diameter for linear seam tubing is .350" and the maximum diameter is 6.25".

What are battery end caps?
Battery end caps are dielectric insulation sleeves that have a formed shoulder on one end.

Which one of Electrolock's products is best to use in cut to length and automatic insertion processes?
For applications in which cut to length or automatic insertion processes are necessary, continuous length tubing is the best choice. Continuous length tubing is an Electrolock exclusive.

How is an insulation sleeve used in wire harness applications?
Insulation sleeves provide protection from moisture and contamination. These insulation sleeves also help keep the connectors in place and maintain the integrity of the connection. These sleeves keep the flexibility and freedom of movement in the wire harness application as well.

Are your products available and in stock?
No, all of our spiral wound tubing is custom made to meet your very specific needs. Typical lead time for spiral wound tubes is 2 weeks.

What customization options are available?
Custom colors, printing and striping options as well as shrink tubing with or without meltable liners are also available.

How can lay flat sleeving be used?
Lay flat sleeving can be used an insulation or protective covering for motors, electrical connectors, capacitors, fuses, batteries and battery packs.

What types of materials can Electrolock use in the manufacturing of spiral wound tubes and sleeving?
Electrolock has the ability to work with a wide range of materials. These materials include polyester, Mylar®, Kapton®, Apica®, Nomex®, Ultem®, polyimide, aramid and non woven paper. Electrolock also works with custom materials supplied by a customer.

What temperatures can polyester tubing withstand?
Polyester tubing has a continuous use temperature of 155° C.

Can insulation sleeving be used in any automotive applications?
Yes, insulation sleeves can be used in a variety of "under the hood" automotive applications including: battery sleeves, dielectric barriers and heat shields for ignition, fuel, brake, power sleeving and exhaust systems.

What is low shrink spiral wound tubing?
This tubing shrinks in length and diameter when subjected to extreme temperatures. This tubing has a 9% shrink.

How long does the customization process take?
The entire process takes about 2 weeks depending on the scope/size of the project and other factors including testing and material selection.

What is continuous length tubing and what are the benefits of using this type of tubing?
Continuous length tubing is spiral wound tubing that is pressed flat and wound on a core. This tubing can be supplied in lengths up to 1000'. Continuous length tubing can be supplied in smaller packages, which decreases shipping costs and provide better inventory space management.

What test methods are used during Electrolock's laboratory testing?
Electrolock provides ASTM, DIN, TAPPI, IEC to provide thorough product analysis and applications support.

What is a Perkin-Elmer Differential Scanning Calorimeter?
It's a testing device that measures and characterizes the thermal properties of materials including melting point, degree of cure and glass transition.

What are the inner diameter sizes for spiral wound tubing?
Spiral wound tubes are be fabricated to inner diameters of .065 inches to 6 inches.

What converting services does Electrolock provide?
Electrolock provides the following converting services: notching, split wall, die cutting and welding.
