Kapton®/Nomex® Spiral Wound Tubing

Our products are custom designed and fabricated to meet the unique perfomance demands of your application.
Spiral Wound Tubing
Spiral wound tubes are noted for thin walls and good thermal conductivity. They also provide precise inside diameter and wall thickness tolerances as well as high dielectric and light weight capabilities. They are used in various thermal and electrical insulation applications.
To meet our clients' specific and specialized insulation requirements, Electrolock has custom-designed and custom-produced a wide range of high performance spiral wound tubing products for more than half a century.
And, we can custom-fabricate a spiral wound tube or sleeve to solve your insulation problem too. Select from a wide assortment of papers, films, foils, nonwovens and many other flexible materials including combinations of materials.
[Custom colors, printing and striping are also available, as well as shrink tubing with or without meltable liners.]
Spiral wound tubing... Custom-designed/fabricated... and delivered to you... by the high performance electrical/thermal insulation and materials specialists at Electrolock.
Turn-around time, start to finish: Two Weeks.
Heat Shrink Sleeving
Heat shrink sleeving will shrink in length and diameter when subjected to temperatures over 300° F. Heat shrink sleeving is typically made from Mylar®- a polyester material that offers a high level of mechanical strength and durability combined with chemical resistance. This Mylar® sleeving or Mylar® tube offers high dielectric strength for applications up to 130° C.

Polymide tube with formed ends
Fabricated Tubes
Formed, capped, notched, cut to length, multi-tube construction
Various fabrication techniques are used to form insulation tubing into complex, three- dimensional shapes. The fabrication process is tightly monitored to assure an accurate fit to design specifications.
Uses: Specialty fabricated tubes are used in fuel lines, exhaust systems and brakes in aerospace and automotive applications.
Here is a listing of fabricated tube products Electrolock has manufactured for various clients:

- Spi-Flex (Flexible spiral wound tube, heat dissipating and consistent dielectrics)
Heat Shrink Spiral Wound Tubing
This spiral wound sleeving is made with heat shrink polyester film that will shrink in length and diameter when subjected to temperatures above 300°F. It offers high dielectric strength, excellent chemical resistance and good tensile strength. Heat shrink polyester tubing can be produced to your required diameter, wall thickness, length, custom color or striping. Typical applications employ a normal diameter range of .096" - 6.00" with a wall thickness of .002" - .008". Custom wall thicknesses are available upon request.
- Low Shrink Spiral Wound Tubing - 9% shrink
- High Shrink Spiral Wound Tubing - 30%-50% shrink
Uses: Heat shrink spiral wound polyester tubing is used to insulate thermal cut outs, connectors, and capacitors, and as a protective cover against abrasive or chemically harsh environments.

Linear seam sleeve
Heat Shrink Linear Seam Tubing/Linear Seam or Lay Flat Sleeving
This linear seam sleeving is made with heat shrink polyester film that exhibits high shrink in cross direction and minimal shrink in length direction when subjected to temperatures above 300°F. It offers high dielectric strength, excellent chemical resistance and good tensile strength. Heat shrink polyester linear seam tubing can be produced to your required diameter, wall thickness, length, custom color, or striping. Typical applications employ a normal diameter range of .350" - 6.20 " with a wall thickness of .002" - .003".
- 40 - 70% in diameter
- Minimum Diameter: .350" diameter (14mm lay flat)
- Maximum Diameter: 6.25" diameter (250 mm lay flat)
- Greater than or equal to 3% in length
Uses of Heat Shrink Linear Seam Tubing : Heat shrink polyester linear seam tubing is used to insulate thermal cut outs, connectors, and capacitors, and as a protective cover against abrasive or chemically harsh environments.
Lay flat sleeving has applications in many medical and industrial markets- delivering strength, lubricity, chemical inertness and biocompatibility. Made of high quality polymers, this sleeving offers excellent mechanical performance and protection.
Uses of Lay Flat Sleeving: Insulation, protective covering for:
- motors
- electrical connectors
- capacitors
- fuses
- as well as batteries and battery packs
Continuous Length Spiral Wound Tubing/Lay Flat Sleeves
[An Electrolock exclusive]
Spiral wound tubing is most often cut to a specified length or supplied in 36" sticks that can be cut to length by the customer.
However... Electrolock is able to produce Continuous Length Spiral Wound Tubing for inner diameters of .400" to 2.00". This tubing is pressed flat and wound on a core allowing it to be supplied in lengths up to 1000'.
Since more tubing can be supplied in a smaller package, shipping cost is decreased and better inventory space management is possible.
Uses: This type of packaging lends itself to easy automation in cut-to-length and automatic insertion processes.
